Blurring hides sensitive details — a face, a license plate, an address, a name — before you share a photo.

What to blur and why

Common targets are faces, ID numbers, license plates and addresses. Blurring (rather than a black box) keeps the image looking natural.

A privacy-first approach

Many "blur online" tools upload your photo to a server — risky for the sensitive images you'd want to blur in the first place. Prefer methods that keep the photo on your device:

  • A local photo app's markup/blur tool on your phone or computer.
  • A browser tool that processes images locally, like the rest of our suite.

Before you share

Crop out anything you don't need first with the Crop Image tool, and strip location data — see EXIF metadata & privacy.
