Why a 200 KB limit?

Smaller files upload faster and cost less to store, so forms often reject anything over 200 KB. Compression lowers file size by re-encoding the image at a smaller quality setting.

Steps to get under 200 KB

  1. Open the compressor below and drop in your image.
  2. Drag the quality slider down; watch the live output size.
  3. Stop as soon as the size drops under 200 KB, then download.

Tips

  • Photos compress much better than flat graphics — for logos/screenshots, resizing the dimensions helps more than quality.
  • If you can't reach 200 KB on quality alone, reduce the pixel dimensions first, then compress.
  • JPG usually hits a small target like 200 KB more easily than PNG.
