The 300 DPI rule

For crisp prints you want about 300 pixels per inch. So a 4×6 inch print needs ~1200×1800 pixels; an A4 needs ~2480×3508. Fewer pixels stretched over the paper = blur.

How to get a sharp print

  1. Start from the highest-resolution original you have.
  2. Use the resizer below to set the pixel size for your print (e.g. 1200×1800 for 4×6).
  3. Don't enlarge a small image past its native size — that adds blur, it can't add detail.

Tips

  • Check the original's pixel size before printing big.
  • Screenshots and web images are usually too low-res for large prints.
